The full wedding weekend

Turn your wedding into a three-day getaway: the people you love stay together, explore the Hills, and leave already planning the reunion.

Friday: everyone arrives

Wedding party and family roll in throughout the afternoon, settling into Cedar Hill, Stillwater, or one of our private cabins. No hotel blocks scattered across town, no coordinating rides. Unpack, stretch your legs on the private trails, and let out-of-towners get their first look at the Hocking Hills from the hilltop.

As the light softens, gather for rehearsal on the woodland ceremony site. Then it's back to the lodge for a welcome dinner on the porch: fire pits and hot tubs after dark, cousins meeting for the first time, and the buzz of tomorrow finally here.

Saturday is your day

Slow morning in the cabins: coffee on the porch, hair and makeup with a view, groomsmen playing pool downstairs at Stillwater. When you're ready, walk to the ceremony. Vows beneath the trees, the wedding party at your side, and the forest canopy framing every photo you've imagined.

Cocktail hour spills into the garden while the wedding team transforms The Haven for your reception. Dinner, toasts, dancing, all under one roof and all on your schedule. When the last song plays, guests don't pile into cars. They stroll back to their cabins under the stars, still talking about the day.

Sunday, the send-off

Nobody wants to leave, and nobody has to rush. Sleep in, brew a pot of coffee, and find your people scattered across the porches and picnic tables for a lazy farewell brunch. Some head out early; others linger for one more walk to the pond or a group photo in the meadow.

Old Man's Cave is half a mile away if your crew wants a final hike through the state park before heading home, already swapping stories about next time. That's the thing about a weekend wedding at Cedar Grove Retreat: it doesn't end when the reception does.

Guest lodging on property

Make it a destination celebration. Your wedding party and guests all stay together on the same property.

Cedar Grove Retreat offers walkable onsite accommodations:

  • Cedar Hill Lodge sleeps up to 30
  • Stillwater Lodge sleeps up to 19
  • Six private cabins, sleeping 4 to 8 guests each

Thoughtful disposables

Less waste, same table. We use compostable tableware and drinkware whenever we supply them.

Borrowed decor collection

Borrow instead of buy: 750+ decor items are included at no extra charge, which means less one-time waste and less for you to purchase.

It all started with a napkin

Weddings aren't something we added on. They're why The Haven exists.

In 2016, Cedar Grove Retreat owners Kevin and Julie Claus sat on the porch of Stillwater Lodge, talking about their three children growing up on the property and how wonderful it would be to see them married where so many memories were made. Kevin grabbed a napkin and sketched a large lodge that could hold all their friends and family. That vision became The Haven.

In the fall of 2018, their oldest son Brian became the first wedding at The Haven, making Kevin and Julie's dream a reality.

What couples say

My husband and I had our wedding here and it was an absolutely stellar experience. Brian and Liz were very communicative and helpful throughout the months leading up to the wedding. They also were more than willing to accommodate our requests and had plenty of recommendations when we needed assistance. It's located right in the heart of hocking hills. We used their ceremony site by the woods and it was perfect. They even have a rain location available if the weather turns. Jon and I feel very fortunate that we found this amazing venue and would absolutely recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat. The Haven has a lot to offer and any couple would be thrilled with their choice in this venue.
